Vietnam - Inside And Out - a pictorial.

The photos in this post were collected over a few trips to Vietnam. I love to look at architecture, whether it be temples, old historic buildings, new houses or crumbling ruins. And sometimes the interiors can be just as intriguing. I've weeded out some of my favourites to share.
A new house in Que Nhon
Many houses and hotels, no matter what they may look like on the exterior, go into great detail when it comes to their ceilings and lighting. From modern angular recesses to the more traditional ornate cornicing.
And, until I saw new furniture being sold in the shops, sort of where retro meets Uncle Ho...
Some of these lounge suites would make a great feature
in the right room.
...I thought this sink, in one of our hotels, was an prop left over from a Dean Martin (Austin Powers for those of you too young to remember) movie. Now I'm not so sure.
From a humble shanty on the water's edge...
...to many clustered together. They look like they're being urged into the river by the larger buildings behind them.
And, entire communities floating on the water.
Halong Bay
Ancient My Son ruins (or what's left of them) lingering from the Cham Empire.
Full of character, one of many old buildings in Hoi An.
A pagoda on one pillar, Ha Noi.
Veitnam certainly isn't lacking in colour...
..or height...
Waiting for neighbours.
...or impressiveness.
Stadium - Danang...sorry about the whizzing by.
..or individuality.
For of those of us who bother to look up!
Hang Nga Guesthouse...or Crazy House
Vietnam is a country of vast contrasts, the old meeting new...
That's not blue sky.
..and the new, meeting the old.
Biotex building - HCMC
It's many things, including a photographer's wonderland.

Now all I need is a new camera, and a photographer :)

Cheers!

Snap I think your camera has done you proud in putting together a great pictorial post about the great contrast in Vietnamese architecture and the huge gulf in wealth between its people. I like the picture of the community floating on the water.

I hope you get your Xmas wish but your present camera is serving you well.

@Martyn I have some wonderful shots of Halong Bay, it wasn't hard to do with such amazing scenery, even with a crappy camera.

Personally, I think there is an emourmous gap in wealth in Vietnam.

@Lani there were odd things everywhere in that hotel. It was decorated in jumble/garage sale decor...was a really nice place to stay though, friendly staff, great food and rum drinks that bordered on dangerous.
